The hybrid electric automobile whose first appearance was made in March 2010 at Geneva Auto Show was Lexus CT 200h, introduced by Lexus. It is luxurious and its back door didn’t open like common cars but it is lifted to open.
CT 200h was introduced after six months in European market. It will not only sell in Europe but will be sold all over the world. In April 2010 it was introduced in New York International Auto Show.

The Fastest & Widest Jaguar XJ220

The Idea:
In early days Jaguar company employees make a gathering on weekends and work on those projects which are not related to them officially. Jim Randle was also a member of that group, a dreamy idea came into his mind by seeing the cars in competition such like Ferrari F40 & Porsche 959.
Randle worked on his idea and focused on four wheels and tried to increase:
a)         Traction
b)         Handling
c)         Integral safety-cage
He has a determination that car will be able to run on a tremendous high speed of 200 mph.
Impressive Concept:
When Randle completed the outline of his project he chalked it out to the company’s executives. The executives impressed by this concept and think that by the company’s resources a car may be produced for the British Motor Show which will be held in 1988.
In this way several workers took part in the project like:
a)         6.2-liter version…produced by Walkinshaw Racing.
b)         The all-wheel drive system…produced by FF Developments.
c)         The styling of the car…created by Keith Helfet.
The target of the speed was 220 mph with scissor-style doors previously used by Lamborghini. When produced, the car was 170 kg lighter than the XJS. In 1989 the car was announced by the company having a price of £361,000. It was planed that the production would not exceed 350.
Production:
The company made several changes like:
a)         The scissor doors were eliminated.
b)         The car was driven by rear wheels instead of all wheels.
c)         The higher speed was 200 mph in 3.6 seconds.
d)         Possibly the lightest weight.
Then the public have seen this outstanding car in Oct.1991. The factory started its   production in 1992 in a factory at Bloxham which was purposely built for production. In July the first cars were delivered to its customers. Elton John & the Sultan of Brunei were its original customers.
The initial customers were not satisfied with the modifications and also the increase in price from £361,000 to £403,000. It was another setback that the car came out years after the original announcement. Thus a number of customers refused to buy the car.
After the dilemma of its production 281 cars in total were produced up to 1997. At present it is on sale at £100,000. Surely it is not only the fastest, but the widest car, because its width is near about 7 feet.
Pininfarina-Designed Version
The Sultan of Brunei and his brother Prince Jefri is real car lover, so they ordered for hundreds of sports car in mid-nineties. One of these sports cars was Jaguar XJ220 and a number of alterations were made by Pininfarina. The alterations included:
a)         Fixed headlights.
b)         Originally installed pop-up versions replaced.
c)         Double-vane rear wing which was redesigned.
Record Of Speed:
The XJ220 was driven up to a speed of 212.3 mph by Martin Brundle at Nardò Ring in 1992. The car’s catalytic converters drag the engine of an estimated 45 kW, the catalysts were taken off afterwards and the rev limiter was increased 7200 rpm-7900 rpm, so that the XJ220 find a top speed. With alterations the car was run on a uniform & steady road, Brundle run the XJ220 up to 223 mph approximately.

McLaren F1

Actually the three seats sports car idea was a dream for Gordon Murray, taking a shape in his mind from his youth. This idea was approved by the company and the car was produced and showed in May 1992 at the Sporting Club in Monaco.
۞ Chassis And Body:
The McLaren F1 was the first produced road car in which a complete carbon fiber built plastic chassis structure was used. Aluminum & magnesium were used for attachment points for the suspension system.
The seat of the driver is settled in the middle, in front of the fuel tank and the engine, with a passenger seat a little bit behind and on each side. When open, the doors on the vehicle move up and out, so they may classified as butterfly type.
۞ Suspension:
The suspension system of the car was designed by Steve Randle. The American model of the McLaren F1, the Ameritech McLaren F1 is a modified standard McLaren F1 to meet the U.S. regulations; to comply with said regulations the car had to meet stricter emission requirements which increased the weight and also reduced the power somewhat. Gumpert Apollo

History:
Roland Gumpert suggested introducing a latest sports car to the new generation. The purpose of introducing the car was to make it street-legal car as well as sports car to run on tracks, in 2000. After taking a business tour when he returned to Germany he asked Audi to co-operate in his new venture. Audi sanctioned his plan to develop a new sports series car. Ferrari’s New FF

FF is a unique car which is designed & manufactured according to the car lover’s wishes and dreams. They have no idea what they are asking and is it possible to manufacture it? But without thinking they were demanding that FF should have some extra qualities & characteristics. For example it has a large trunk, and they may drive it in water.
If the manufacturer followed the demands of the car lovers that may resulted in a humpty- dumpty and unsymmetrical car, ugly looking & clumsy. The produced car may become very complicated and awkward. Public demanded that it should have heavy 4WD transmission. If the manufacturer succeeded to produce a car from the images of their customers, that may have run only a few miles.
A long discussion has been made with Amedeo Felisa, the designer to produce a unique car of public dream car. Surely he is a super car genius. He gave valuable advices and told the manufacturer what to do. From his opinion an agile & fast car could be produced which may get 660bhp. But he was uncertain about the 4WD for security.
A compact lightweight unit keeping a set of clutches that can increasingly feed the twisting force to every front wheel separately with a small integrated gearbox. Interesting thing is that there are only two gears in it. The clutches always work under electronic control.
Electrical control means that when anything loss of grip at the back portion; the electronic system of the car will take help from the front portion of drive. In the odd situations you may drive it well with almost rear-drive.

Now the specifications of the new car include horsepower of 373 kW with a potential of using 2 engines in 2 or 4 wheel drives. The founder of SSC claims that they will make it faster than fairies, cleaner & leaner than any other designer.
Speed Attempt:
In West Richland the SSC had broken the speed for world’s fastest produced car and have 412.28 km/h. The record was made by running the car in two opposite directions.
This is verified by Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007.Now the Ultimate Aero has a title of world’s fastest produced car having a speed of 412.28 km/ h. After a short period SSC also applied for the world record for the highest horsepower.
The latest car has steel in the structure; it will be of carbon except for aluminum crash rails. Also include sequential paddle shifting.
The cost of the new version will be $970,000 including tax. It will be in market on next year. Off the line will be delivered in a year.

McLaren MP4-12C

The car which is going to be launched in 2011 is a sports car, designed and produced by McLaren Automotive. Since the McLaren F1 it is the first production completely built by McLaren. It will be in your knowledge that McLaren F1 held the record for the fastest car in the world for a long time. On 8th September 2009 the design of MP4-12C was chalked out and planned it to be launched in 2011.
The MP4-12C has a carbon fiber compound chassis which will be energized by a V8 twin-turbo engine, having a torque of 443 lb-ft & bhp 502.
The MP4-12C completed a lap of the test track in 1:16.2 and become the second fastest car on the lap board, when tested on the British motoring show Top Gear.
Tag Heuer who is partner of McLaren F1 will release the limited edition Carrera MP4-12C watch. It will be available only at McLaren dealers on the celebration of the launching of the car.
Design:
The carbon fiber is used mostly in four wheels to reduce the weight, so it is planned to use the carbon fiber in McLaren F1 also. It is calculated that the MP4-12C will weigh only 1,300 kg. The seating arrangement of the car is formal, because it consists of two side-by-side seats. In comparison to other cars, the central cabinet of MP4-12C is narrower to accommodate the driver near to the center.
McLaren M838T Engine:
The car is powered by the M838T 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It has 8,500 rpm, with 80% of torque available at just 2,000 rpm.
Transmission:
The gearbox of the MP4-12C has a system nickname “Pre-Cog” to facilitate the driver to choose in advance, the following gear by lightly knocking the paddle.

Motorsports:

He assured that the company will supply maintenance for the cars and will start racing in 2010 with the CRS racing team. Since the F1 GTR, the MP4-12C will be the first car taking part in competition of sports car racing.
The MP4-12C GT3 produces less power as equivalent to the road car, with only 493 bhp. The car have a new bespoke 6-speed gearbox that is 80 kg lighter than the road car’s 7-speed. Its steering wheel is just like the same as of McLaren MP4-24 Formula 1 car.

McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 is the finest driving machine yet built for the public road, stated by the British car magazine Autocar, in 1994. The McLaren F1 won the title of fastest road car of the world, having a speed of 231 mph.

The McLaren F1 was the first produced road car in which a complete carbon fiber built plastic chassis structure was used. Aluminum & magnesium were used for attachment points for the suspension system.

The Land Rover Freelander is a compact crossover SUV made by the Land Rover. The current edition is sold as the LR2 in North America and as the Freelander 2 in Europe. It uses a uni-body structure, unlike traditional SUVs built with a body-on-frame design.
First Generation:

In the last of 1997, the Freelander was marketed and then it became best-selling four-wheel drive model car of Europe up to 2002. The last Freelanders in North America were sold as 2005 models.

Lamborghini Murciélago

The story of Murciélago is interesting because its name derived from the arena of bullfighting. A strong and passionate bull named Murciélago that survived 28 sword strokes in an 1879 fight in Spain. Murciélago is produced by Lamborghini, the automaker, who is Italian. It is a two-door and two-seat car. The production of the car came into being from 2002 to 2010. This was introduced as a coupe in 2001 but presented as a model in 2002.
In the past this automaker produced so many designs but after a long period introduced Murciélago. The car’s new model came in market with the ownership of a German parent company Audi. The production of this Italian made car ended in 2010. A total number of 4,099 cars have been produced. After this the other car was released at   Geneva Motor Show held in 2011 with the title the Aventador.
First Generation:
First-generation of Murciélago is a mid-engine super sports car with all-wheel-drive having angular design and has low catapulted body. Interestingly its height from the ground is only four feet.
